Mitel Controller Procedures

GMI uses the Mitel SX200 Mitel Controller  to operate it’s phone system. This document  describes how to program advanced features on the controller that users  cannot perform from their phone devices.

To factory reset a phone 

Unplug the phone’s POE  Ethernet cable.

Plug in the POE Ethernet cable and hold the increase volume button as the phone boots up.

A display message will appear asking if you want to factory reset the phone.

Press  * under confirm to reset the phone to it’s factory default settings.

Press# to scroll through options until you reach the tools and features settings 

Select the tools and research settings

Press# for no and geron

This takes you to the Restore Defaults Option

Press * to confirm you want to restore the phone to it’s factory default settings


Programing Phone Extensions on phones currently not in the system

Go to form 9 in the CDE

Go to empty slot

Select the device type  ( press esc 4)

Enter the device type of the phone

For tenant, enter the #1

Class of service (COS) , enter the #1

Class of restriction (COR), enter the #1

Page, enter the #1




You can manually put the MAC address on the back of the phone to have it register with the controller (MAC address is located on the back of the phone), or you can type ***(extension number), superkey and press enter to save


Changing the extension on an existing phone 

Enter form 9 of the CDE

Clear the MAC address by ( put the cursor on the MAC address, press the spacebar to clear it)

Press enter to save

On the phone,  enter (pin) he different extension

Press the superkey

Enter ***(new extension number), press the superkey


Forwarding GMI main line to an external phone device

Enter form 31 from the CDE

Assign the phone to the answer point.

The index number is 233 which is the last three digits of the main line. The default is 6000. Type over the default 6000 number with the external phone number you wish to be the answer point for the main line.

NOTE: There is no simple on and off switch to deactivate this feature and return to use for default settings for the main line to function normally. The controller has to manually be set to its default feature through the Mitel controller for the main line to function normally.

Programing a Phone like another

To program a new extension number like an existing extension in the system, the new extension must not already exist on the controller. You must also have enough IPs available to program a new 



extension, or you must purchase more, and/or you must delete  user / extension that  is no longer in use.

Log into the controller

Login: installer

Password: 1000

Enter form 9: Press 9 – enter

Find an empty line  not occupied by line information

Press Esc5 until you see the feature ‘program like’.

Press Esc 4

Enter the extension#   of the settings you want to copy

Press  enter

Enter the new extension# that is yet to be in the system.

Press enter

Connect new phone  to the controller

The phone will boot up asking you to enter the pin to register the new phone

Enter *** and the new extension you wish to program

The phone now has now been programed into the controller and is functional

How to Program a phone to answer the main line 

Log into Controller

Login: installer

Password: 1000

Enter form 9

Find the extension number profile you want to edit

Esc 5 ‘more’ to find ‘expand set’,


Use lines 17,19,21,23 to program multiple lines for the operator to receive calls.

Line  key 17 for line 60004, 19 for 6003, line 21 for 6002, line 23 for 6001

Scroll down to line 17, press esc 1 (key), multi-calls (in/out)

Scroll to the right until your extension column, enter extension#6003. 

Repeat the last three steps for key lines 19, 21, and 23 

Press esc 6 to exit 


How to program Park 1 and Park 2

Login into the controller and enter form 9

Select the extension that you program 

Press Esc 3 to ‘expand set’

Press Esc 4 ‘features’

Press Esc 5 ‘more’ until you find orbit

Select ‘Orbit’

There are two different orbits. Orbit 1 represents park 1, park 2 represents park 2. Orbit 1 should be programed on key line 5. Orbit 2 should be programed on key line 7.
