GMI Export Codes Procedure


Export/ECCN Codes for Equipment being Exported


This document describes the method for obtaining shipping codes to create the necessary documents in order to ship product internationally. GMI obtains these codes on behalf of Expeditors International to enable them to create Packing Slips, Commercial Invoices, and a Shipper’s letter of Instruction. GMI notifies Expeditors International that an order is complete and ready for shipment.


Oracle provides a matrix for ECCN and CCATS shipping codes for their software and hardware. Those lists can be obtained by visiting: Oracle’s website

For specific Oracle Item/ Part Number(s), please use the PQT. The PQT will give you the exact ECCN, CCATS, and Schedule B shipping codes for your requested part.  Access to the PQT requires an Oracle login credentials. You can create an account by clicking on following link:

If you do not find the Oracle equipment listed at the above link, please request the ECCN # for the part number, by sending an email to: export_eccn_ww@oracle.com 


For non-Oracle equipment, shipped from Tech Data, please contact  Inside Sales for  the appropriate the manufacturer rep.  for ECCN numbers.


To notify Expeditors International of WA of a shipment that is ready to be picked up, fill out the Shipment  Code Template. This form identifies all international ship code information for every line item on the product order form  that is physical merchandise. Save the new form identifying the customer name, customer purchase order and date created . Email the  attached form to communications.room@expeditors.com identifying the customer purchase order number.

Definitions:

ECCN Code:

An Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) is an alphanumeric designation (i.e., 1A984 or 4A001) used in the CCL to identify items for export control purposes. An ECCN categorizes items based on the nature of the product, i.e. type of commodity, technology or software and its respective technical parameters

CCATS:



Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System. Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System (CCATS) is an alphanumeric code assigned by the United States Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) to products that it has classified under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

EAR:

If your item falls under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Commerce and is not listed on the CCL, it is designated as EAR99. The majority of commercial products are designated EAR99 and generally will not require a license to be exported or reexported. However, if you plan to export an EAR99 item to an embargoed or sanctioned country, to a party of concern, or in support of a prohibited end-use, you may be required to obtain a license. 

Schedule B Ship Code | HTS ( Harmonized Tariff System Number) |HS ( Harmonized System Number)

Export codes, also known as Schedule B numbers, are administered by the U.S. Census Bureau. All import and export codes used by the United States are based on the Harmonized System (HS). ... This 6-digit code is known as the Harmonized System number.

Commercial Invoice:

When used in foreign trade, a commercial invoice is a customs document. It is used as a customs declaration provided by the person or corporation that is exporting an item across international borders. A commercial invoice must often include a statement certifying that the invoice is true, and a signature.

Declaration of Conformity:

The Declaration of Conformity is a special document which the manufacturer signs to say that the product meets all of the requirements of the applicable directives. It must be issued by the manufacturer, or by the person placing the product on the EU market if the manufacturer is not based in Europe.


Shipper’s Letter of Instruction:

The Shipper's Letter of Instruction is a ‘letter’ from the exporter instructing the Freight Forwarder on how and where to handle the export shipment. The exporter is granting permission to the Forwarder to act as the authorized forwarding agent for U.S. export control and customs.
